Christmas poems for young writers

The Holidays are a perfect time for all you young writers to put your talents to work.  Who needs to go shopping when you have a pen and paper?  A poem for mom or a  little story for your baby brother can be the best present they get this year.  Make your own cards with your happy holiday wishes inside.  Try a Christmas acrostic.  Write the word Christmas down the side of a page.  Now you have the first letter for each line of your acrostic poem.  It doesn’t have to be hard you can even do just one word for each line like the one below.

Carolers

Holly

Reindeers

Icicles

Santa Claus

Tinsel

Mistletoe

Angels

Sugar Plum Fairies

Try different words or your own name. Your acrostic can be anything you want it to be.  Check out these Christmas poetry books for inspiration.
