Cinderella Stories

We’ve enjoyed displaying a wide range of Cinderella Stories this month, ranging from variations from all parts of the world to parodies to chapter books for older readers.

I just found out that Robert D. San Souci died this past December.  He was a prolific author– I found fifty titles when I checked our library catalog.  He is best known for adapting folktales into picture books.  Taking a look at just his Cinderella books shows you some of the author’s range:

Cendrillon
Cendrillon: A Caribbean Cinderella, illustrated by Brian Pinkney

Cinderella Skeleton
Cinderella Skeleton, illustrated by David Catrow

Little Gold Star
Little G0ld Star: A Spanish American Cinderella Tale, illustrated by Sergio Martinez

Sootface
Sootface: An Ojibwa Indian Tale, illustrated by Daniel San Souci (Robert San Souci’s brother)
