Do you devour a book like you devour a great after-school snack? If so, join us for our S’mores Book Club where we will eat a snack and talk about a different topic each month. This month’s topic is Graphic Novels.

All ages, preschoolers with an adult; Drop in.
Bring your camera and meet Pete the Cat at storytime from 11-11:30 a.m. Make a craft while supplies last from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Enjoy special coloring pages until 4 p.m.
Readers in kindergarten or first grade can participate in Pete the Cat: I’m Reading in My School Shoes from 3-5 p.m.

Willy Wonka Jr Theatre Showcase
Saturday, March 25, 4:15 p.m.-4:45 p.m.
All ages, preschoolers with an adult; Drop in.

Enjoy the delicious adventures experienced by Charlie Bucket on his visit to Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory in this captivating adaptation of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale.
This performance, featuring local children in grades 2 through 8, is presented by Theatre-on-the-Hill at the library.

Join the Fountaindale Public Library for our sixth annual celebration of El día de los niños/El día de los libros, commonly known as Día! Día is a nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children from all backgrounds. This will be our first year hosting a show at the Bolingbrook Park District featuring two performances perfect for the whole family to enjoy!

Día: Chinese Zodiac Craft

Celebrate culture with our special Chinese craft. Based on the book “The Great Race” by Dawn Casey, we will have a zodiac craft the whole family will enjoy.

Join us for this featured show as part of our 6th annual El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day) celebration! Mr. Gideon Ray will share the background of the gentle martial art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He and his students will provide a demonstration for the audience members. Don’t miss this exciting show which will be fun for the whole family!

Día: Trick Rope Show with Los Hermanos Escamilla

Join us for this featured show as part of our 6th annual El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day) celebration! Our highlighted Día de los niños performance will be an authentic Mexican Charreada (Rodeo) show which highlights the most exciting rope tricks. By 1975 “Los Hermanos Escamilla” had become the best “Floreadores” (Lariat or Trick Ropers) of México City.

Faraway Places Friday

This month, for ‘Faraway Places at Your Fingertips an Adventure for Homeschoolers’ we travel to Ireland! We will be exploring the geography, culture and customs through music, stories, games and crafts. We will meet on Friday March 18th from 1:30-3:00pm. We hope you will be able to join us as we continue our adventures!

Faraway Places at Your Fingertips, an Adventure for Homeschoolers will be meeting again Friday, February 19th to explore China! The kids will learn all about the geography of China, with an emphasis on the capital city of Beijing. There will be cool fun facts and a fabulous celebration of Chinese New Year- they will create their own dragon craft and be introduced to the music of China!

While the children are learning about China, educators please join us in meeting room B to discuss possible upcoming events.  We’d love to have your input.

Faraway Friday: India

Faraway Places at Your Fingertips, an adventure for homeschoolers,  kicks off the new year with a voyage to India! The kids will hear folk tales, sing and dance, and create their very own lighted rangoli design.
Educators will be able to participate in a live videoconference with Crewton Ramone, the “Math Whisperer”. He will be sharing his math methodologies from warm and sunny Hawaii in meeting room B!
We hope to see you this Friday, January 29 from 1:30- 3pm in meeting room A!

Faraway Places Down Under

Calling all Homeschool students and educators: We hope you will join us Friday, December 11th as we reach our final destination of 2015 in our ‘Faraway Places at Your Fingertips Program’ designed especially for you!  We will be visiting  Australia! The kids, (ages 5-11), will explore the Great Barrier Reef, design aboriginal masks and experiment with creating the sounds of a didgeridoo!

Educators, you are invited to join us in Meeting Room B for a hands-on STEM mini-lesson focused on electric circuits! We hope you will find this useful as you introduce your students to these concepts in your science curriculum. As always, there will be a space and toys available for our littlest friends to stay with moms, dads & caregivers.

We hope you can join us for this adventure. Plan on keeping us in your plans for the New Year as we continue our journey to other interesting places!
